Silent We Stood is Henry Chappell’s third novel, and is a 2014 Spur Award winner. His first, The Callings, was a Spur Award finalist in 2003 in the Best First Novel category. In 2005, his second novel, Blood Kin, was a finalist in the Novel of the West category. The story begins in 1859 in the pro-slavery culture of Dallas, Texas. Chappell’s rich narrative reveals the price paid by a band of abolitionists and the slaves they help to escape along the Underground Railroad.
