Beginning with the unexplained arrest of rancher Billy Parker, it became obvious the town marshal had a grudge against the family, but no one knew why. The story unfolds as attorney Miles Carr investigates the source which leads back to the Civil War. Going back to 1861, James Randolph Jackson joins the war effort for his beloved Virginia, and through a twist of fate, becomes the beneficiary of a six thousand-acre tract in Arizona. Following his adventure, and the family’s move west, James becomes a pioneer in Arizona ranching, until he suddenly dies in 1874. The cause or reason for his untimely death is not known until his grandson has problems with the town marshal in 1885.
